CLARET, France - March 29, 2007 - NETIA today announced that Minnesota Public Radio® ( MPR), one of the United States' premier public radio stations, has installed NETIA
Radio-AssistTM7.5 digital audio software to support "Performance Today®" a radio program showcasing live concerts by world-renowned classical musicians. The new NETIA workstations and production tools, installed in the first phase of MPR's updating of its playout systems, provide intuitive operation for production staff and a flexible new model for the broadcaster's other radio programs.
" Radio-Assist provides straightforward desktop editing capability, reliability, and ease of use with state-of-the-art technology, all of which combine to simplify our production operations," said Brian Smestad, project owner and Rajesh Kapur, project manager at MPR. " Now we can use just one streamlined solution, rather than six, to do one job. This gain in efficiency will free up time in our edit suites and production studios, allowing us to do more with the resources we have already."
The Radio-Assist TM range of digital audio software programs covers the entire operation of a radio station, allowing MPR production staff to record, edit, or prepare playlists while working within a single application. Integration with other third-party systems in use at MPR is simplified due to the openness of Radio-Assist TM.
The software's production tools are available for MPR staff use at dedicated workstations, and a Radio-Assist TM
Air-DDO broadcast module installed in the studio displays the broadcast channel along with tools for cueing, on-air monitoring, playlist modification, recording, and production.
Classic Music Service (CMS), The Current, and a news and information service make up the three primary MPR regional broadcast services. MPR also produces and distributes several national programs such as "Marketplace", "Weekend America", "Speaking of Faith" and "The Splendid Table". The updating of MPR playout systems for all programming broadcast from its St. Paul, Minn., facilities is scheduled for completion by the end of 2008. Future plans for the Radio-AssistTM system at MPR include integration with the broadcaster's Music Master scheduling software, online audio archive, Visual Traffic and Axia Audio systems.
" MPR is a leader in the world of public broadcasting, and we look forward to further work with the station as it transitions to more sophisticated and streamlined playout systems," said Xavier De Vynck, NETIA vice president of business development. " With the highly integrated functionality of our Radio-Assist 7.5 product range, MPR can bring its high-quality radio programming to listeners with much greater ease and flexibility."
