NETIA Introduces Redundant IP-Based Control System for Lawo Nova73 Audio Routing Matrix

Radio France First to Install Solution Which Enables Easy Viewing of all Routing Options

NETIA announced that it has built an IP-based redundant control system, derived from its MANREOTM range of content management software, for the Lawo Nova73 audio routing matrix. The resulting system, recently installed at Radio France, greatly streamlines the routing process by giving facility personnel an instant overview of all routing possibilities through a single software interface. The French public service radio broadcaster installed the NETIA solution as part of its new Master Control Room project, which will act as a veritable nerve center for Radio France's operations.

" Our new control solution for the Lawo Nova73 router adds flexibility to radio broadcasting while reducing the complexity of handling audio flows within the facility," said Mustapha Rezzoug, radio products director at NETIA. " A complete user interface provides all the tools necessary for router control in moving media with the Nova73, so users can focus more on the quality of radio broadcasts rather than on the task of routing audio content."

" Based on the delivered Nova73 DSHS router, Radio France built a central audio switching system with the highest possible level of resilience and upgradeability," stated Jean-Michel Durand, Lawo's sales and project manager.

" The completely redundant concept in powering, control, and signal routing makes it fully protected from single points of failure in these areas. The concept of a Nova73 DSHS system and the wide range of different available audio, control, and signaling interface cards will allow Radio France simple, cost-effective, and reliable routing system upgrades if required," continued Mr Durand. " This is an extremely important feature for a broadcaster like Radio France, whose future growth and development seems inevitable."

Radio France is using the NETIA solution to control all internal audio flows - from one studio to another and for mixing between studios - from multiple workstations simultaneously. All master control activities involving the router are also controlled by custom software from NETIA. The system operates continually, on a 24/7 basis, in a redundant configuration to ensure the security of radio broadcasts.

Used by Radio France with great success for HD coverage of the World Cup, Lawo's Nova73 DSHS audio routing matrix features a routing capacity of its system core to over 2,500 mono input and output channels. This synchronous audio matrix provides ports for MADI directly at the system core. It is built on HD technology featuring Dolby E compatibility and the switching clock-synchronized via a GPS system supplied by Thum & Mahr.

Radio France Group radio stations controlled by this new solution include France INFO, France INTER, France BLEU, France CULTURE, France MUSIQUE, FIP, LE MOUV, SOPHIA, and VIVACE.

The integrated NETIA/Lawo solution is available from either NETIA or Lawo. More information about the ManreoTM product range and other NETIA solutions is available at www.netia.net.
